Once Upon a Time has taken the necessary precautions to ensure that everyone’s visit is as safe and comfortable as possible and in line with the latest Dutch government regulations. Therefore, we accept a maximum of fifty visitors per hour.

By bike

You can park your bike at the Museum.

By car

You can park at Q-park Museumplein (4 minutes’ walk) or Q-Park Byzantium (8 minutes’ walk).

We recommend that visitors read up on our parking deal with Q-park.

By public transport

From Amsterdam Central Station take tram 2 or 12 and alight at Museumplein square. For current travel information, please check 9292OV.


The coffee corner on the second floor offers a unique view of Museumplein square and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. A visit to the café alone is worth it! So buy your ticket here.

If you would like to visit the museum as a group, then please book your ticket here. You can book up to 15 tickets.

You can also book a guided tour with a one hour duration. Please make your booking two weeks before the date of your visit via: The guided tour must be paid in advance by invoice. 

Up to seven working days before the tour, you can change or cancel the tour booking free of charge. 

A booking for a guided tour alone does not give access to the museum. Access is only granted upon presentation of a ticket. You can purchase your tickets here.


You can purchase online tickets here. We recommend that you book tickets in advance. Please note that we allow a maximum of fifty visitors per hour.

It is not possible to purchase e- tickets without a specific date online. You can buy a ticket at the counter and enter the museum straight away. 

That is not necessary. You can also use your smartphone or tablet to display the barcodes on the online ticket at the museum entrance.

After your order has been completed and paid for, you will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail including your e-ticket(s) as PDF attachment(s). If you haven’t received an e-mail after a few minutes (please check your spam or junk folder) please contact our customer service at

There is a special rate for children (13-17 years old) and students. Please remember to bring your Dutch or international student ID and present it at the entrance. For tickets, click here.

The pop-up museum is partially accessible for people with limited physical mobility. Unfortunately, our location is not accessible by wheelchairs or mobility scooters. There is no elevator on the premises. 

It is no longer necessary to wear a face mask, maintain a 1,5-meter distance from others, or to present the coronavirus entry pass.

At present, we do not take reservations but with an entry ticket you are very welcome to stop by and enjoy our beautiful terrace!

Visitors are not allowed to eat or drink or carry food or drink with them in our museum. We look forward to welcoming you to our museum cafe.

Bags larger than A4 size are not allowed in the exhibitions. You can store your bags in designated lockers.

Taking photographs and making video recordings is permitted. You are not allowed to use a selfie stick in the exhibition rooms.

It is not permitted to use a drone to film in and around the museum. This also applies to the terrace of the Museum cafe.

Photos, video, and film recordings may only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes.

For safety reasons, it is not permitted to visit the museum with children in a child carrier or a buggy.

Unfortunately, our location is not accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter. There is no elevator on the premises. 

To ensure the safety of the collection, pets are not allowed in the museum. Guide dogs are an exception to this rule.
